The Voice of the Nature Island Operating from the Volcanic Heart of the Caribbean throughout 2026

Introduction

Welcome to the official website for J79H. I am Haluk Yetkin (TA2LE), a Class A amateur radio operator with over 30 years of experience on the radio waves.

Throughout 2026, my business commitments will take me frequently to the rugged and beautiful island of Dominica (J7).

While my primary purpose is business, my passion is amateur radio. I will be activating the radiowaves as J79H, bringing the Caribbean to your shack on HF bands via SSB, CW, and digital modes.

Why This Mission is Unique:

The year 2026 marks a new chapter. My professional endeavours take me to the rugged, untamed shores of Dominica (J7)—the Nature Island of the Caribbean.

But whilst my visits are driven by business, my heart remains on the radio waves. This is not merely a holiday activation; it is a persistent, year-long campaign to light up the bands from one of the most geographically dramatic locations in the West Indies.

Whether you are a seasoned DXer chasing a new band-point or a flora & fauna enthusiast, my mission is to get you in the log.

THE MISSION PILLARS

pillar1

The DX Pursuit

My operation focuses on the synergy between skill and propagation. Operating primarily on HF bands (10m - 40m), I will be leveraging CW, SSB, and Digital Modes to ensure maximum reach. Special attention will be given to the "Magic Bands" during openings to Europe and Asia, bridging the difficult path between the Caribbean and the East.

pillar2

Uncharted WWFF Frontiers

Dominica is a fortress of biodiversity. As a committed supporter of the World Wide Flora & Fauna (WWFF) programme, I will be taking the radio to the wild. Armed with portable gear, I intend to activate pristine National Parks and protected areas—some of which have never heard a CQ call before. Target References: Morne Trois Pitons (UNESCO), Cabrits National Park, and more.

The Veteran’s Ear

30 Years of Class A Discipline Power is nothing without reception. This expedition is built on three decades of experience as TA2LE. My operating philosophy prioritises the "Human Element"—listening deep into the noise floor to dig out QRP (low power) and mobile stations. I am committed to orderly pile-ups, ethical operating standards, and giving everyone—not just the "big guns"—a fair chance to get J7 in the log.
